Virtual performance studies
Lear Virtual Proving Grounds (LVPG) is a suite of digital simulation tools across E-Systems product lines. It allows Lear to study the mechanical, thermal and electrical performance of automotive connections and complete wiring virtually.

Simulation capabilities
The suite includes advanced electro-thermal simulation, integrated electro-thermal analysis and Joule heating prediction. It supports steady-state and transient simulations, conduction, convection and cooling assessment, design optimization and virtual validation.
Scope
LVPG covers mechanical and thermal analysis, harness boundary and clearance checks, durability and routing prediction, radiated and conducted emissions, and coolant flow prediction.
From model inputs to recommendations

LVPG uses an iterative correlation loop. Model inputs cover CAD geometry, material properties, electrical loads and boundary conditions. Physics-based simulation applies electro-thermal analysis, Joule heating prediction, heat transfer modeling, and steady-state and transient simulation. Laboratory testing checks prototypes, temperature measurements and electrical performance. Correlation and validation compares simulation with test data, resolves discrepancies and improves model accuracy. The result is design recommendations for hotspot prediction, optimization, risk mitigation and reliable product performance.
